Christmas in July

Christmas has come early this year, at least at Bernina Sewing Center. Join us for our kick off of Christmas in July on Tuesday, July 20 from 5:30 - 8:00. Even though it is hot outside, you will find cool, holiday ideas here to get you started on those Christmas projects. The staff has made lots of new Christmas samples and kits to share with you. For this evening only, everything Christmas will be 25% off (fabric, kits, patterns, books). Refreshments will be served and the mood will be festive! For the remainder of July, Christmas will be 20% off. See you there!

HandiQuilter Seminar — August 13 & 14

This is a first for us! An educator from HandiQuilter will be offering classes in our store on August 13 & 14. If you are an HQ owner, or if you would like more information about how smooth and easy these HandiQuilter machines are to operate, this is an opportunity you will not want to miss! We will be following up with more details.

Embroidery T-n-T — August 28

Save the date of August 28 for T-n-T with Amanda Whitlatch, Bernina Educator. We are very fortunate to have Amanda back again in our store. Earning a B.S. in Environment, Textiles, and Design from U.W. Madison, she has worked in the sewing industry for the last 12 years. Whether you are experienced or new to machine embroidery, the Tips-n-Techniques featured will be invaluable.

You will take home a CD with the designs needed to create the featured projects, instructions for the projects and video clips of selected techniques! You are guaranteed to leave the seminar on fire with enthusiasm and inspiration. If you attended Amanda’s class last year, you will be anxious to return for more enriching embroidery ideas. All supplies provided.

Murder by Serpent

Have we got your attention? We are going to have a new and exciting quilt class in conjunction with the book Murder By Serpent by Barbara Graham. This entertaining class will consist of 4 sessions where you will obtain the clues from the novel to make your mystery quilt blocks. At the end, there will be a special show-n-share session where you will bring your finished quilt top, meet the author, and have your book signed!

Think Bernina — Think Green Red

We have noticed that many of you do not want a bag when you shop with us as we are all trying to do our part in conserving. We will be offering for sale red, not green, Bernina reusable tote bags for your convenience. The bags cost $3. As an incentive, every time you make a purchase and use your bag at Bernina Sewing Center, you may enter your name into our drawing. Once a month, we will draw a name to receive a $25 gift certificate to use at our store.

Bernina is introducing a new line of machines: the 330, 350PE, and 380. These will have a new beautiful design and the Bernina quality you will love. Watch for them — they should be in our store later this month!

Becky: Hooked on Feathers by Sally Terry
I love to do feathers when I quilt, but sometimes it is hard to do the backtracking to make them perfect. The technique in this book has no backtracking. It is fun and easy!

Vivien: Fork Pins by Clover
Line up pieced seams perfectly with these double pins. This double pin is bent for ease in handling. They really hold fabric in place!

Connie: Easy Scallop by Darlene Zimmerman
I have always been afraid to do scallops but this tool made measuring easy.

Myrt: Bernina Walking Foot
This is a must-have — no quilter should be without it. I use this on every single quilting project I do!

Cindy: MagEyes
Magnifies details clearly. Hands-free with 2 lenses and can be used even with glasses. Comfortable. Not just for sewing only, lots of uses — maybe remove that sliver!

Linda: Brass Stiletto by Nifty Notions
Not a necessity because there are many things you can use for a stiletto, but I love the weight and feel of this one. One of my “just for me” notions.

Doris: Bernina 830
Every time I sit at this machine, I love it more. I am constantly amazed at the innovation and precision of the Bernina 830! Every time I use it, I learn something else that it will do.

Stashbuster Mania

Thank you to all who participated in last quarter’s Stashbuster Mania. We made 17 new quilts for the community and we are ready to go again! We will sort, cut, sew and quilt for as long as you like. Bring those scraps and random yards of fabric as well as basic sewing supplies. We’ll supply the machines.

Your $10 covers dinner. You’ll need to bring your own drink (please limit yourself to pop, water, iced tea, coffee – we want our seams straight!) and maybe a treat to share. We’ll be using 5” squares and focusing on fun quilts. Let’s not forget our teenagers! Purchase a layer cake of your choice and sew the 10” squares together for a teen-sized quilt.

Time: 5:30 p.m. ‘til no later than midnight
Cost: $10.00 (includes dinner)

Pillowcase Challenge Continues

We were pleased to give 83 pillowcases and 9 quilts to Family Support Network this quarter. That totals 210 pillowcases and 17 quilts donated to the families of Billings. Thanks to everyone for your continued participation in this effort.
